I am currently involved in multiple projects on the ATLAS and DØ experiments, as well as some independent studies:
  • Benchmarking FORTRAN/C/C++ performance with various operating systems (including multiple flavours of LINUX as well as Windows NT) and compilers (including KCC, g++, and Visual C++) at various levels of optimization. Look here for details.

  • Development of an interface layer for application independant data handling and viewing.

  • projects include:

    • Developing fast packing/unpacking algorithms for the Level 3 trigger on DØ. This includes:

      • The DØ Level 3 calorimeter unpacking tool. Look here for details.
      • Generating raw data from unpacked data. Look here for details.
      • Coordinating the integration of all unpacking tools.

    • The run configuration manager that provides access to the hardware configuration of the readout crates. Look here for details.
    • An interface to the trigger information, so as to facilitate lookups of which triggers passed, and perform correlation studies between triggers and trigger terms.

  • ATLAS projects include:

    • Development of the analysis framework for the ATLAS detector ( Gaudi/Athena )
    • ROOT persistency for the histograms and ntuples in Gaudi/Athena.
    • Development of the Event Data Model for the transient and persistent store.
    • Development of the ROOT I/O to persistify objects in the transient store.
    • Development of the Detector Description interface and implementation in the transient store.

  • Important projects and distant aspirations:

    • Epinepherine (Red Rocks)
    • Moby Dick / Ahab: woo-hoo - done on 9-28-02!
    • Direct North Buttress of Middle Cathedral
    • Regular Northwest Face of Half Dome: done 6-25-06
    • The Rostrum: done 10-23-05
    • Soloing the Zodiac
    • Astroman: done 6-11-06
