I didn't take any pictures on the 13th, as we used Amy's camera.
Those pictures can be found
here.
Unfortunately Amy returned to Berkeley on Saturday
night, using the highly questionable excuses of "too much work" and
"midterms", missing out on some excellent climbing on Sunday.
Church Bowl lieback
(5.8),
Uncle Fanny
(5.7),
Black is Brown
(5.8), and finished off the day on
the classic
Bishop's Terrace
(5.8). The weather was beautiful - warm
and sunny, and after we stopped climbing, we went to El Cap meadow and
snacked, waiting for Andrew and Ed to join us. A very liesurely day.
Monday was a different story. Only the hard core fools remained - that is
Rod, Andrew and myself. We got up at 5:30 AM to tackle East Buttress
of Middle Cathedral. It was 37F when we got into the car at Camp 4. By the time
we reached the Cathedral parking lot, the temperature had dropped to 34F.
It started snowing just as we started climbing. By the time I had belayed
Andrew and Rod to the top of the third pitch, there was a quarter inch
of snow on the coiled rope. Rod and I mutinied at that point, and we
rapped off. Later in the afternoon the weather improved a bit, and we
climbed
Nutcracker
(the 5.9 start) and
After Seven
. I forgot the camera
in the car however, so the only pictures I took were of Yosemite falls
as we drove from Cathedral to Camp Curry to get some warm liquids in
us.
